Heterodin kelimesini incelediğimiz yazıda, Superhet alıcılarda kullanılan bir karıştırıcı, mikser devresinden bahsetmiştik. Bu devrelerde hattı (linear) çalışmayan devre elemanları kullanıldığını belirtmiş ve antenden gelen RF enerjisi ile, Lokal osilatörden gelen iki işareti karıştırarak yeni bir işaret ürettiğini anlatmıştık. Bu yeni ürün işarete de Ara frekans ( IF = Intermediate Frequency ) denildiğine değinmiştik.
"Mikserlerin çıkışında lokal osilatör ve antenden gelen sinyalin toplam ve farkının da üretildiğini görmüştük. Yani ( fo + fs ) ve ( fo - fs ) olmak üzere ve bunlardan bir tanesinin IF katından girebildiğini anlatmıştık."
Bir misal yaparsak daha iyi anlayacağımıza eminim. 455 KHz lik bir ara frekans katı olan alıcıda 1000 KHz lik bir sinyali dinlemek istiyorsak ve lokal osilatör frekansı fo, gelen sinyalden büyük olarak seçilmiş ise, fo 1455 KHz olmalıdır.
İşlem 1: 1455 - 1000 = 455 KHz IF frekansı elde edilecektir.
Diğer ürün: 1455 + 1000 = 2455 KHz IF’den geçemeyecektir.
Ancak 1910 KHz’de çalışan oldukça kuvvetli başka bir istasyonun antenden gelen sinyali mikserde karışıma girecek ve lokal osilatör frekansı 1455 olduğunda:
Görüldüğü üzere bu istasyonu da dinleyeceksiniz. Böylece istenen 1000 KHz ve istenmeyen 1910 KHz sinyaller IF frekansı olan 455 KHz’in mikserden çıkışını sağlamaktadırlar. Bu olay aynı anda, aynı frekansta iki farklı istasyonun alınması olarak anılmış ve istenmeyen ikinci frekansa İkinci kanal karıştırması (second channel interference) veya hayal frekans (Image frequency) karıştırması olarak adlandırılmıştır.
Görüldüğü üzere hayal frekansı, istenen frekanstan (2 x IF) kadar fazla olmaktadır. Yani (( fs + (2IF)) = 1000+(2x455)=1910 KHz. olacaktır. İkinci kanal interferansı eğer bu frekansta çalışan kuvvetli bir istasyon varsa meydana çıkmaktadır. Ayrıca mikserden önce bir RF katı kullanılmamışsa, ya da mikser katı yeterli ölçüde ekranlanmamışsa (Screening), hayal frekansı interferansı genellikle görülmektedir.
Fo genellikle fs’den IF frekansı kadar yüksek seçilir. Şimdi sorumuzu soralım: Böyle bir alıcıda hayal frekansı hangi işlemde üretilir?
Şıkları Yukarıdaki Örneğe Göre Hesaplayalım (fo=1455, fs=1000):
A) (2 x 1455) - 1000 = 2910 - 1000 = 1910
B) (2 x 1000) - 1455 = 2000 - 1455 = 545
C) 1455 + 1000 = 2455
D) 1455 - 1000 = 455
Neticelerden anlaşılacağı üzere a) 2fo-fs 1910 KHz lik hayal frekansı işaretini üretecektir. Sorunun A şıkkı doğru olmaktadır.
